My PCBs came back from OSH Park! This run had a bunch of copies of the UART and SPI level shifters as well as the RFM12b breakout. I’m getting them cleaned up now, then later on testing!
Just came across your website. Awesome job! I also placed an order for PCB at OSH Park. From the picture, it looks like the holes are not aligned very well. Was that by design or due to fabrication error?
The drills are DEAD on center of the pads (with cheap PCBs that’s sometimes an issue, itead and Seeed are acceptable but look sloppy, OSH Park is perfect). What you’re seeing is actually a sparkfun header footprint: they stagger the holes intentionally by like 5 mil in either direction. This ends up holding on to the header row with a press fit so it’s perfectly aligned as well as held in place without extra hands for soldering.

I’m hoping to order a couple of your level shifter boards. Did they test alright? Were the caps necessary? (If so, could you supply a Mouser Part. No. for a suggested capacitor?)
Sadly I never did get around to actually testing them, and I couldn’t tell you :(. I’d highly suggest ordering some, building them, and reporting back, though! I’d love to make a weekend project of following through, but it probably won’t happen for a while as I’ve been too busy lately for my own good 🙁
